Der Kirchenpatron St. Martin deutet aber auf einen älteren Ursprung hin. Vor der Reformation gehört die Gechinger Kirche zum Landkapitel Weil der Stadt des Bistums Speyer. Im Zuge der Reformation in Württemberg kam die Kirche zum [[Dekanat Calw]]. 1561 wurde die Kirche durch Blitzschlag beschädigt. 1743 gab es einen größeren Umbau. 1865/67 gab es einen neuerlichen Umbau, bei dem das Kirchenschiff seine heutige Form erhielt. Da der Turm dadurch etwas niedrig wirkte, wurde er 1875 von 24 auf 42 Meter erhöht. 1893 erhielt die Kirche eine Heizung, 1914 elektrisches Licht.
